Default Anybody know a good door guy? Preferably in the Valley.

The entry door on my condo got Kung-Fu'd over the weekend and it's gonna need to be replaced.

If you know anybody who does that sort of thing, does a good job and won't be outrageously expensive, let me know.

I might have a guy. What size is the door? We just replaced our 40" front door and you can only get em custom.

NM. My dad used a wholesaler that made the door to his specs. It didnt include installation.

if by kung fu'd do you mean the jamb is AFU'd too? If you need someone good, if they are still in business, San Gabriel Sash and Door. I think they are fare priced and do good work. You want it done perfectly or down the road, it will give you nothing but grief, especially if the jamb needs repaired or replace.

Arcadia Sash and Door has great stuff and are fine craftsmen, but expensive. You get what you pay for my friend.

Thanks for the info. My jamb is steel framed, so it came away pretty much unscathed.

I'll look into San Gabriel Sash and Door.

with steel jambs, you really, I mean really want someone who knows their ****. I would suggest, whether you get a steal clad, foam core or a solid core door, you get it with out the lock sets pre-bored or the hinges pre-mortised. The steel jambs have no forgiveness, everything on the new door will need to be set to your existing hinges and strike plates for the lock sets. Good luck.

I've done a lot of door hanging in the theatre and film industry, and a bit on the side as an handyman. and I have to agree with x-wing just because what he said is what I would have said. make sure that someone you hired knows their ****, because I have seen people who did the doors don't do it the right way and it amuses me.
