    Default The Avid Gardener thread...

I've had a pretty good record of starting long lasting, in depth and useful "Interest" type threads over the years so I'll give it another shot. I've actually thought about starting a thread like this for 10 years now but just never got around to it for some reason or another. Well, I had something completely disheartening happen to me today in my yard. I wont go into it at this time but if this thread takes off... Envision a weed eater, a 10 year old bed of Giant "Sum and Substance" Hostas, Coral Bells, Black Columbine, 20 year old spliced "Weeping Bloodgood" Japanese Maple, 400 year old kids of an original (to America) Black Eye'd Susan patch and Japanese Spurge...yeah...GOOD ****ING TIMES! All gone...just like THAT! BOOM! My wife paid an asshat $100 to kill $8,000 worth of plants while I was "out of town" for 3 weeks (Sitka)...

Anyway, I know most of you peeps have Yuccas, Sagos' and Cannabis but any other avid gardeners out there? East Coast? West Coast? Humboldt Coast?

Ive had a banner year of Knock Out Double Roses this year.

Remember, I'm in Virginia so results may vary...Lets hear your Gardening stuff! I'm a Green Thumber!

As some of you know, I grow my own maters on my deck...nothing beats a homer mater...NOTHING! These are my Indeterminate varieties in a 40 Gallon trashcan...

Here are some of my Double Pink and Double Red "Knock Outs'" in the front yard under the Willow Oak.

Here is the new Bermuda grass I put in last year...

Here is the proper "English Entrance" I put in with the Boxwoods. They need their Spring trim as well as the the Hollys and Barberry...

Oh my Lad, yo doin t all rong, y can't let the roots gro all willy nilly in the pot, ya mus containe them. Sliick a tree the wider the roots, the wider the tree, ya want ta focus the plant on narrow n tall that way the stem will carrie the weight o the maters. N also, ya got nuthin under them tubs, ya can't water maters from the top.....the stems 'l rot, ya got ta put some paper in the bottom of the pot ta contain the mulch with a try foe the water. ya must water from the bottom up, n a full 8 hours o sun u'll get good maters that way.

    Now to see ma boys.......

Wel I tried but I can't find a SFW version of Mrs Browns Boys..

I used to grow the snot out of veggies when I lived in Cali. In the PNW I can't grow a thing. It just doesn't get hot enough plus my neighbor's house blocks all my sun. I have rented a bed at a community garden and hope I have some luck with squash and tomatoes. We will see.

    Nocturn it looks great!
