Default Can anyone offer credit report help? Details inside...

Hopefully someone in our wonderful Kings community can help me out here.

Many years ago, my mother added me as an authorized user on one of her credit cards. Once she did, it started showing up on my credit report. She never kept a balance on the card until a few years ago. Until then, the age of the account helped my credit score, but her large balance is dragging my credit score down now.

I asked her to take me off the account as an authorized user. She has called the bank three times since then. They keep telling her I'm off the account, but the card is still showing on my credit report.

I want to refinance my mortgage to take advantage of the low rates, but that card is killing my score. Does anyone have an idea how I can get this card, which I am not financially responsible for, off of my credit report?

It could take up to 3 months before it stops showing on your report. You can also attach an explanation to you credit report. You would have to do it with all 3 agencies

The lender that's working with you will need a letter from the credit card but they will also do the legwork with the credit bureaus if they are a good company to help get you the proper rate. We have always found them willing to help anyway.

Thanks for the advice, guys. Sadly, I've been trying to get this card off of my credit report for over a year. It's taken this long because I am waiting several months in between phone calls to the bank.

This really pisses me off because I worked my ass off to repair my bad credit and pay down my debt. The only debt I have left is my house, a small gov't student loan, and a car loan which I'll have paid off in the next few months. This is also the second time this particular bank has reported erroneous information to the credit bureaus, screwing my score in the process. Seems like I can't win with these jerks.

Just be glad there aren't medical claims on there, hospitals are way worse than banks at fixing their ****.

Have you picked a lender to work with? They sometimes have alternate routes to get this stuff sorted out.

It would mostly likely be USAA or Navy Federal Credit Union. My current loan is with NFCU.

Just checked my credit again and the only bad mark I have on it is for credit card utilization.

Dude USAA aught to be able to work this out for you awesomely if you have time. We didn't use them when we refinanced only because they were so slammed they couldn't lock rates for 90 days. Explain your troubles to a rep there and see if they can help out.

They are BY FAR the best banking institution to work with, and customer service with them trumps everything else.

Call their 800 number and start talking to somebody, and I bet they find a "Credit Specialist Department" that will seriously help you.

at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

I'll give USAA a call and see what they can do. They are indeed an awesome company. I've been with them for 23 years for auto/renters/home insurance, plus they funded my auto loan which I'm on track to pay off in around 2 years from origination. Hopefully my long history with them helps me get to the right person.

Thanks again, guys. I had no idea where to ask for help on this. You've all come through with some good advice.
