Default Commute time from SCV to WLA (over the Sepulveda Pass)

I am considering moving the family out to the SCV. Anyone have a good handle on the actual commute times to and from the WLA area to the SCV?

Any info on the above commute would be really helpful.

A coworker of mine lives in Porter Ranch. We work in Culver City. He has to leave by 6 AM to make sure he gets here by 7 AM.

My understanding is that it gets worse later in the morning.

I live in Hermosa Beach and work in Studio City most of my time. It takes me about an hour give or take in the AM w/ no weather or crashes 7-9 leave. 40 minutes or less on the way home after 8. Can take much longer during peak times in the evening. However going to other way is much harder both AM and PM, based on what it takes Coworkers to get from the Valley to FOX or Sony. I usually get on the Freeway @ the 90 and take Moorpark in the AM. I know the traffic patterns on the freeway so I take different lanes as I go.

if you are at the pass, on either side, by 7AM, I would say an hour or so. If you are at the pass closer to 7:30, add 30-45 minutes.

    Thanks for the info everyone.

There are so many variables it is hard to guess how long it will take.

I am trying to look at the "route" function on sigalert.com, but am not sure how accurate it is.

Most of the time, my commute will be SCV to the 405/90.

it also depends on where in the SCV. If you are back in saugus you can add another 15 min just getting to the freeway.

    That is true.

It would be great if I could find the drive time from say the 5/14 to the 405/10. I could figure the rest out on my own.

My hours will probably be 7:30 to 4:30

sigalert.com has been a cluster**** of a website for the last year ever since they made some changes to how much info they give out on an incident. you would find yourself stuck in traffic for no reason and sigalert will show that the route you're on is solid green. so it's a hit or miss.

I would give my commute an extra 15 minutes. good luck.

Do yourself a favor and get a hotel room for a week in SCV and do the commute for that week. I would think this would go a long way toward influencing your decision.

Yeah, I was thinking of something like this. Was also looking to pick some random days and just making the drive after work to see how things are.
