Please for once let us see the entire incident instead of the "juicy" part. The story reads they have had prior contact and the woman has been know to assault officers in the past.

Last year my partner and I were dealing with a drunk one armed man who refused to stop sleeping in the parking lot of a restaurant. He put up a good fight and it took 4 of us to detain him and several times he tried to bite my partner. While at the hospital as he was getting cleaned up after fighting with us he bit me on my arm as we were fighting with him again on the gurney.

With that prior contact I now know: 1. His enormous strength despite having only one arm and 2. He will bite. With that if we encounter him again I would have no problem using a taser on him at the first sign of non compliance and I would be justified in doing so. Would the people watching us know about the prior incident, of course not and they will be up in arms (No pun intended ). But I'll be dammed if I let that dirtbag bite me or my partner again and cause me the worry about contracting a disease from him...

We are the Samurai, the warrior elite who protect and serve. Armed and armored from head to toe, masters of our personal weapons and bound by Honor, Duty, Loyalty, and Honesty. We walk the long path into the places society would prefer forgotten, and chase those demons that most would run from screaming in fear. We are the Samurai.

California has been doing this since the inception of the public education system. Politicians can not be smarter than the average test scores of students.

Well, that's entirely different. See, on the bus, one of the cops held the woman's arms behind her back, and then the other cop decked her in the face.

Did you let Dr. Kimble know you found his wife's killer?

PS - as always, don't involve the police if you can help it. They have limited training, restrictive procedures, and questionable morality. At best, you'll get a stern warning. At worst, someone will end up dead. Most likely, your life will be worse off because of it. Look at that poor fellow in PVE. I think BAD91 was on the case: "Obvious, the father was arguing with his wife, stabbed and cut himself a dozen times, and then fell backwards on the knife. Case closed."

Yes, leave it to guys like this, who have zero training, and no desire to do anything. Morality is also questionable.

Surely doing nothing to someone who is attacking people will yield better results.

It's apparantley 94th percentile. In theory, this person would be the smartest in the room 94% of the time, but I don't think that's always the case. I suspect people with that capacity have occupations and social circles with similarly intelligent people. I'm suspect as well, but I doubt cops are smarter or dumber than the population as a whole.

O.K., I can't hold back at this point in time. You have no idea what you are talking about. Being book smart and being street smart are so far apart they are in different hemisphere's. AND, I can spell. In my 34 + years of Law Enforcement, I have seen it all, and most of my colleague's in the professionh have lived to tell about it, but not all of them. Do Not Resist! Comply. Doing that alone will almost always guarantee your safety. I can't tell you how many hours I have spent in Emergency being patched up, or with a partner being patched up, and I had a trainee (6'7" & 250 lbs) who was fighting with a PCP suspect (5'8" & 145 lbs) that almost lost his left arm to a severe bite inside his wrist. Do yourself a favor, if you have the cajones, and do a Ride-Along. It will open your eyes as to what cops put up and face everyday. Rant off

Even though we have opposing views, I am more informed than you would ever believe. I'd hate to automatically label people who disagree with me as ignorant. Instead, I read what they write, attempt to empathize and better understand their point, and reply accordingly. It's what makes me so likable. You should give that a try too.

I agree, they are different spheres, but I don't believe someone who has a high IQ can't also be street smart. I doubt IQ tests gauge a person's ability to read the subtle cues of deception.

I appreciate that you recognize that safety isn't always guaranteed, even if you follow the cops orders directly. Personally, I rarely have to worry about my safety, so I don't see law enforcement as a shield from the elements. I honestly believe that involving the police, even when something grossly criminal is involved, will lead to a suboptimal outcome. Some people accept that, most people are perfectly okay with that, but that's just not good enough for me.

I've heard all the stories; I'm well aware of the daily challenges the police officers face. It's not my eyes that are shut.

Great, you have heard all the stories. I have lived them. If you had any idea of how many crimes go unreported, I think you may change your mind. But, that is fairy dust to some. Now really open your eyes, do the Ride-Along
