Thumbs down Did anyone else get boxed in at the Figueroa & Pico lot?

After the game we were all ready to roll out and noticed that the guys that run the lot along Figueroa (just south of Pico) parked cars in the middle of the aisles, thus blocking many people in. People were getting pretty pissed off as the ONE attendant ran back and forth moving cars out of the way. My car was blocked in as well, it only caused us a 10 minute delay, not a huge deal by anymeans, but still, kind of crappy. Oh yeah, the normal price was $10, but like just about anything else SCF related, the price went up...$20 today for our usual spot, and $25 for the end closest to Staples..

Yeah, leaving isn't that bad to be honest, we usually exit through the alley on the east (back side) of the lot, hang a right on Venice, then left on Fig and we are good to go, takes no longer than 5 minutes tops.

I used to park in those lots.
There are cheaper ones on Flower and the other side of Staples on Fig.

Here's my short story on how I got free parking for Game 3 of the SCF and Game 3 of the WCF.

I usually park on Olympic and Grand. Ranges anywhere from $4-$7. For Game 3 of the Conference Finals, they shot up to $15. I thought that was too much, so I drove further down to Grand and 12th. That's my backup lot, normally $5-$7 bucks. Strangely enough, there were no parking attendants or price signs. We all parked there, looked everywhere for someone or something to pay but no luck. We all thought, "Screw it, lets try to enjoy the game and worry about paying later." After the game, still no one. We all parked for free.

Game 4, I took the Metro because of the bike tour stuff.

TONIGHT, went to my usual lot on Olympic and Grand. $15 bucks again. Went further down to Grand and 11th... $25 bucks. Went back to my backup lot on Grand and 12th. AGAIN, no parking attendant but the lot was full. I think everyone knew of the free lot there. So I turned left on Olive and made my way back towards Grand, the lot there was $10 and it was all full. The parking attendant told me to go across the street (Olympic and Olive) for $5. That lot ended up being full too!

However, the one right next to it at Olympic and Hill had a TON of empty spots. I was with about 4-5 other Kings fans trying to pay for parking but the guy said that wasn't his lot and he didn't want to take our money. He told us that they had parking attendants there earlier in the day but they went home already. He said they've been doing that for awhile and that we can park for free there with no worries.

So I'm definitely trying that lot again on Wednesday and see how it goes. But I'm just saying... if ya want free parking during the FINALS.... this is it. In case you were wondering, I got to the lots at around 4 PM today. It's only about a 4-5 block walk. Took me around 10 minutes (then again, I walk fast).

My regular $5 lot was still doing day parking so I found a $10 lot near by.

Be careful buddy of mine works downtown as parking enforcement lol they got complaints about people parking in lots without paying. Im guessing lot owners caught whiff and they are gonna be dropping off tow trucks to haul peeps away!

Today I dont care if i have to park far away as long as I can get to my car and jump on the freeway real quick. Who knows how it will be if we win and there is a bunch of people in the streets.

If I'm thinking of the same lot on 12th and Grand, I was there for a clipper playoff game a couple weeks ago. There was an attendant who said the lot was under new ownership, and they were not charging for parking as a gesture of good will. I have no idea if he was legit or just some dude off the street, but we parked for free and enjoyed the game!
