    Default Dish Network Sucks Balls!

I had had DirecTV for many years and was completely satisfied with them. I never missed a TVHD broadcast game with them. But do to family situations I had to move and did not have a choice and I am now stuck with Dish Network. Their HD sports channels only broadcast when there is a live game going on and sometimes at their discretion. This is the third time this year I have either missed a game due to Dish not broadcasting a game on the HD channel or have to suffer through watching a SD channel feed. I am not always home at game time but I do set my DVR to record the games. Every game so far has showed that it was going to be broadcast on the HD channel but three times so far my recordings have only shown a screen "Check back often to see if your favorite team is playing in HD" Why would I have to do that if Dish Network's own programming shows the game is supposed to be broadcast in HD? I called up Dish to find out why the game was not on the HD feed. Even though I know that the broadcast is in HD the rep tried to tell me that the game was only being broadcast in SD which is why the game isnot on the HD channel. When the service contract is up I am changing to DirecTV. Dish SUCKS!!!

Sucks that that has been your experience with them. I had them for a few years before cutting satelite/cable tv services completely, and they were more than great. And seriously, why was Dish Network your only option when you moved?

My brother-in-law is in the El Segundo office as a higher-up at Directv and I get nothing. How about a little something for the effort?

I've been satisfied with them. Pretty happy they just added RT America recently.

Lately they have also had JIP for the HD feed and u have to record both if u want to catch it. I switched from DTV to Dish because the DTV costs were skyrocketing and I had a $5 a month discount as a former employee(Hughes) when it was owned by Hughes. There are a few things I like about Dish, I get the NHLN and otehr channels I watch that would have cost me extra from DTV. I agree with the OP though. After my contract is up, I may look back into DTV. But I essentially cut my bill by 40% by going to DISH in the 1st yr. This second year is only about 15% saving, although I have been getting starz for a yr for free and HBO for 6 mos for free.

Both my father and mother are going through some serious medical issues so I decided it would be best if I moved in with them to make sure they were not only getting the proper medical care but to take care of household duties for them. My dad already had a Dish Network contract and is stuck with them for the next almost 2 years. Seriously, why have an HD network and not broadcast HD or up converted HD content on it? Since I have posted this thread two more times I have not been able to watch the Kings play in a promised HD game. It shows on their programming guide that the game is going to be broadcast but when I look at the DVR recording all I get is the announcement "Check back often to see if your favorite team is playing in HD."

All of DirecTV HD channels broadcast HD or up converted SD to HD 100% of the time. I never missed a game broadcast in HD.

Given a choice and the cost difference I would choose DirecTV without even blinking over Dish Network.
