Will you be working under a Chinese visa or a Hong Kong work permit? There are diffferences, you would be required for instance to report to Hong Kong once a month if its not a Chinese work visa I believe.
Another thing to consider is international lawsuits are very expensive.
my husband is a labor attorney. you need one in china/hk or one that is familiar with the labor laws over there.
this isn't the first time I've heard of something like this. it was about 30-35 years ago but my aunt had to sign a contract to work in japan (translation work) saying she'd stay with the company and wouldn't have children for a number of years.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

Wow good luck and I agree with the gallery to make sure you PRORATE your contract. I have many dealings within ASIA and thier way of doing business is well what every suits them best. Just be mindfull of your suroundings & May God Bless
I appreciate all the insights from everyone. After a long day of deliberation, I've decided to decline working there. Yes, the stipulation in the contract is essentially indentured servitude, but more importantly, the fact that their management comes up with these whimsical alterations is a massive cause for concern. I signed a contract that THEY sent to me last week and this addendum came out of nowhere one week before I was supposed to depart, total and utter BS. Working in total fear for my future on a daily basis in a different country is not something that sounds all that appealing to me. If anyone is looking to hire someone in the marketing field, PM me!
