Default Feeling Lucky About Kings Leads Me To Nice Little Poker Score At Hollywood Park

So last night, still feeling high as a kite thanks to the Kings' dominance and feeling extremely lucky in general, I took a rare trip to Hollywood Park to play some poker. $100 at a $3-$2 game.

After having my AJ cracked by a flush on the river, I was down to $26. Down to $18 (and being out of this hand), I witnessed the unthinkable; a straight flush beating a straight flush. One player had 56 of hearts, the other 10J of hearts, board was AJ987 with the 789 of hearts.

This triggered a $10,000ish "Bad Beat Jackpot" in which the loser won $4000ish, the winner won $2000ish, and the six of us at the table out of the hand won $700 each!

While waiting for the jackpot to process, I turned my remaining $18 into $248 at the table. Upon receiving my jackpot, cashed out $900 ($800 profit) and tipped the dealer the difference.

    Thanks Kings!

The odds of two straight flushes being completed at the same table = the odds of the Los Angeles Kings running roughshod over the NHL!

Hilarious right? Flop A 10 9 (as you can see), three in the hand, 65h checks, next to act bets $20, called by 10Jh, 65h calls.

He said afterwards that he "called the flop hoping to get runner runner hearts because no one could put him on that". Profitable long-term move to chase runner runner baby flushes huh? Haha.

Glad it was him and not me, I'da insta-mucked.

On the turn, 65h checks, other guy bets $20, call call. Other guy had A8. Pretty cold deck.

Dude thats awesome! I don't want to step on the mods toes but I wish we could start a poker thread and have it stickied in Reality Hipcheck. General poker talk and maybe a place to offer up home games for people. And OBVIOUSLY it would be implied that cash would never be exchanged. My group of friends plays for Skittles. <cough cough> bs <cough cough>

But my usual group has lost a few guys due to moving. I used to host a semi regular game on the weekends and would love to start doing that again. I have waaaaaay too many chips, a table, all the chairs etc.....

    Thoughts?

LOL, one big hand. Five people were in preflop for $12, I had AJ suited (called the original raiser, who was super aggressive, had three call behind me.) Flop came Jc 9h 2c. Original raiser c-bet $20. I bumped it up to $50. Figured I had to see where I was, didn't think anyone had AA KK or QQ w/ no raises, and if someone re-popped me I could still get away from it. The three callers folded, original raiser all-in, it was $16 more to me, obviously an insta-call with how much was in there. He had Kc10c, got there on the river with a club.

Of course I turned the $18 into $248 as mentioned, and probably shouldn't have left. It was a hilariously bad table, and I'd imagine with $700 behind they all would have played even dumber. But I didn't want to be greedy and tempt the poker gods to deliver me some kind of a set over set type cooler, $800 was more than enough profit for one night.
