Help! San Diego Restaurant Suggestions?
Me and the girlfriend are heading to San Diego for the weekend, and are trying to find a place to go to dinner.
Looking for a place we can get a nice piece of fish that isn't EXTREMELY fancy/expensive.
Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

The Venetian Point Loma Italian Restaurant - Est. 1965
For something not too expensive, completely unpretentious, and thoroughly delicious, if you like traditional Americanized Cicilian/Neapolitan Italian food. Make sure to order their steamed clams.

Sorry USCKings, I haven't been on here in a while so I missed this thread. For future reference, go to Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill on India St, off the 5 fwy near downtown. Not fancy at all. Great quality seafood. Long line, but worth the wait.
And for a fancier place, pricy, go to The Fishery. It's right up the block from where I live. Excellent seafood, but not cheap.
Hope you had a good trip to SD.

Not a fish place but I have the single best Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at (and I am married to a Mexican lady). Old town Mexican Cafe. hands down best Carnitas plate I have ever eaten. Have fun.

Roenick, you're right. OTMC is a great place. I've had the Carnitas plate. Excellent. They also have a chicken and spinach enchilada dish that's outta sight.
If you're ever in Ocean Beach, go to Ortega's on Newport. Small mom and pop place, the specials are awesome.
Bottom line though, I'd rather be in LA at El Coyote or Gilberto's on Pico any day of the year. JMHO.
