so the wench and I just came up with the idea of renting an RV for our honeymoon. doable? cheaper than stopping at motels/hotels on a road trip? Id think so.
what say you? ever done it?

I BELIEVE I'll have another beer!
I'd check the gas mileage on one of those things, depending on how far you were planning on going. Don't know if it would be less expensive, considering the cost of gas these days.
7 to 10 Mpg
Trailers are cooler.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

Rent an Airstream. Those are badass.
Depending on where you're going I don't know how appreciable the gains will be. If you like RV'ing then I'd say go nuts. Just be sure you can park it wherever you're planning on visiting.
Really research it Mark. The cost of rental, fuel, per miles charges vs your Jeep/car and motels. If you do the rv thang, get the insurance. From what I've heard, that place in El Monte really rapes you on any repairs. I know some major CC's do insurance if you use their card for the rental, but really see what they will cover. And for Gods sake, remember the top of the rv is going to be at least twice as high as your regular vehicle, and a couple feet wider. That is where most of the damage comes from, low stuff and not turning wide enough.
My wife and I did a vacation in Alaska in a RV. We flew to Anchorage and then rented it from there. We spent almost a week up there in Denali and then in Girdwood for a few days. It was one of the funnest trip that we have done together. The other option is just renting a car in AK and then staying in B & B, my aunts went that route and they had a great time and I think it was cheaper.
PM me if you want more info.
I would be open to doing the same type of trip in the future.
As a former full-time rv'r, I say go for it!! The people you meet along the way are the best.
It would be more romantic if you honeymooned in a van down by the river!
