How traffic jams get started

In the Transportation Engineering classes I took there is an actual formula for this. It's empirically based and is as solid of an estimator of traffic that is out there. It kinda sucks that to alleviate traffic you have to take cars off the road (public transportation) or make wider freeways (acquiring right of way). The public says they want both but only if it doesn't effect them. It falls into that NIMBY thing.

I am right there with you. Another thing that makes my blood boil are the jackholes who drive well under the speed of the flow of traffic. Cars are backing up behind them and they are passed on both sides by cars and trucks that are flying by them, and yet these a-holes seem oblivious to what is going around them. Speed the **** up or get off the damned freeway!

Even worse are the people who do this and know what they are doing. They have this douchie look on their face as if to tell you "If you are going faster than me then you are going too fast!" These people deserve death! Or at least a good kick to the crotch.
