I finally put an end to the "Oh -do-yaaa?..." madness!
So for the entire Blackhawks series, whenever I was home watching the game, my girlfriend (who's a Kings fan but not nearly as intense as me), would watch the game and then get up here and there to do whatever was necessary (eating, breathing, etc.) while I sat intensely with blinders on as I watched the game.
Well, at various points the announcers calling the plays would say, Johnny Oduya this, or Johnny Oduya that, whenever the guy got the puck, and my g/f started blurting, "Oh do yaaa??" all the time. Every game she'd spout the "Oh do yaaa?" trying to be cute. And for the first few times it was cute. How would it not be? But then as we got to games 5, 6, and 7 and LA lost its 3-1 series lead, hearing it became a problem. But like a good guy I kept my lip tight.
So fast forward to last night. The series is over. I'm happy. She's happy. And all the Hawks babble is gone.
And then suddenly as we were watching TV tonight, as Jimmy Fallon talked up the NY Rangers, my g/f blurted, "Oh do yaaa???"
And I turned and said sharply, "HE'S AT HOME. RESTING. HIS SEASON IS OVER."
She hasn't said it since.

My wife and son really enjoyed it and once in a while they would add in their own "Oh do yaaa now?" in their best Minnesota and/or Fargo voice.

Ya know, there's an easy way to make her shut up.

God it's been the same at my house. Glad that series is over.
