Real Tequila; no Patron, no Cuervo!

My little chip in of advice is to take plenty of time between drinks.
One common rookie mistake (and one I made in college) is to feel like the alcohol isn't having any effect so you can keep drinking. Have some water and wait 10-15 minutes between drinks so you can gauge the effect it is having on your body.
As for what to drink, fruity drinks (Pina Colada, strawberry daiquiris, etc) are definitely a good option. Smirnoff Ice, Mike's Hard Lemonade, "Hard Cider"... these are all drinks that barely taste alcoholic and are great starter points.
Have fun!
Drink bourbon. A shot every 7 minutes until you pass out, then every 2 minutes. When u wake up at 4am, drink a tall glass of water and take 3 ibuprofen. Wrap urself in ur blankets and let it sweat out. You'll be fine the next day. If not, repeat.
Seriously tho: Do NOT take the previous poster's advice to have fruity drinks. The sugar will guarantee that u have a raging hangover the next day. No rum or Southern Comfort either.
Stick with bourbon (on the rocks if you wish) or vodka (with soda if you wish).
Oh...and relax already...it's not like it's your first acid trip or something!
FINALLY my time at San Diego State will come in handy to help someone in need.
First off, have friends there. Not people who you're acquainted with, but friends who will look out for you. It'll be an entertaining time for all, and it's just a safe-guard from you getting bored and going overboard with it.
If you're looking to get the full drinking experience, try a shot. I'd go with good Vodka, because good vodka is designed not to taste like anything. Of course you will taste it, but you'll be better off than if you tried a whiskey that tastes like wood, or a tequila that taste like ash.
I know it's ironic I tell you to do this because of your initial post, but if you don't want to taste anything: 100% Welch's Grape Juice (preferable the red, but the purple is OK, too) and Captain Morgan's Spiced rum. 1 part rum, 2 parts (3 if you want to be really safe) juice. Be careful with that, though, 'cause it can knock you on your butt if you go fast.
Which brings me to: take it slow. Especially your first time, you simply don't know how your body will react. Have water and snacks during. Unless you want to be done within 45 minutes, you'll need to make sure your body is taken care of.
With regards to what you'll like, who's to say? A buddy of mine never drinks either (same deal, no moral reason, just hates the taste) and hates all beer except Guiness, and would prefer a $7 bottle of wine over a $70 one. If you want to try a few different things while you have the chance, mix a small amount with juice and see what you can tolerate.
Have fun, stay safe, and don't even think about driving until the next morning. Do that, and you'll be fine.
Legal Disclaimer: I assume you're 21+. If not, you're grounded and I'm taking away your XBox
Actually thought a little more about this and best case scenario, I hope you have a nice home setup and a BBQ.
Invite everyone over who wants to experience this and make some burgers or whatever you're handy with on the grill. Of course the drinking will commence with the viewing of Game 6 (preferably with the Bob Miller version when available).
Try to keep it to one drink a period or so. Have water during intermissions and you should be set, everyone will have fun and it won't be a totally pointless exercise.
As for drinks, if you like coke a lot as mentioned before whiskey or spiced rum is a good mixer for them. I do recommend the non caffeinated versions since alcohol is a stimulant and you don't want to be up all night.
Liquers are usually 26-30 proof so they have less alcohol than 80 proof drinks. Things like Amaretto or Scnhopps are typically good to drink plain (with water or ice) and taste fairly good all things considered
Hard alcohol is going to taste like alcohol, it takes a refined palette to get past it initially and it's probably a waste of time to put in the effort unless you think you might like to try again.
Beer before liquor, never sicker...
... Liquor before beer, never fear.
Words to live by...
Have a tbsp of butter before you start drinking.
Alcohol smells bad? Never heard that one before. I'm pretty particular when it comes to what I like but even the different types of alcohol I don't like I don't think smell bad. My choice of what you should drink: Get a bottle of Jack and go to town.
Maybe I'm lucky but I've never had a hangover in my life. I'm sure there are more people out there like me who don't get them for whatever reason.
First thing that came to mind when I saw the subject.
i somehow feel the OP can't be for real, but whatever, if i'm off, job has the best advice.
me me me. and you know me... heh heh.
well actually, i've had one hangover in my whole life and that was from drinking cheap, bad champagne. otherwise, i've gotten straight up trashed and felt great the next day every other time.
i didn't get too crazy when the kings won... had a beer, a glenfiddich and a bottle of veuve clicquot, mostly on an empty stomach since i didn't have dinner until close to 11pm and felt just fine on tuesday. i partied way harder after the sweep and again, felt just fine the next day.
