8-Year-Old Gets 'Catastrophe Award' for Most Homework Excuses | ABC News Blogs - Yahoo!

This is just too funny. This woman claims that her child is scarred from the embarrassment of being called out for not turning in her homework in front of her classroom, but then she turns around and tells the nation? Huh? That's not embarrassing?

People are seriously losing it around here.

I didn't bother reading the story. This is just beyond stupid. She should try being a good parent and make sure her child turns in her work every day instead of looking to the media for............well ****, why the **** would she take this to the media?? What does she want?.......I guess I'll just ead the story after all.

While I agree that teachers should not entice other students to recognize a peers shortcomings in a public display, it sounds like the mother should be the one who is embarrassed.

Mom doesn't want kid her embarrassed so she goes on national TV to whine about the "award". Good looking out mom. Your kid really won't get teased now. Idoit ! Moran !

As my wife is a 5th grade teacher (for the time being), it is amazing the amount and types of excuses she gets on homework and projects, from kids AND their parents.

(edit: I should probably be scolded for use of a run-on sentence.)

I don't think she'd ever give out a "catastrophe award", but we often are amused at the lengths some parents go to avoid disciplining or taking responsibility for their kids.

    Lovely Tucson.

Great Parenting. Your kid should be humiliated for not doing there homework and making an excuse for it.

I bet the parent makes excuses constantly for everything, including paying her rent, doing her taxes, etc. Apples usually don't fall very far from their trees.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.
