I lean towards him being in on it, but I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't.

How could he not be in on it? He met her. The woman he met wasn't her? Then why this elaborate hoax? Why talk to him on the phone for hours and hours? That's an awful lot of work just to mess with him. I think we have just a tip of the iceberg here.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the tip of the iceberg we're currently seeing is a prideful 20yo who was duped. Honestly anyone who thought more of him because his "GF" died... this whole thing will quickly be about the media covering their own ass and burning the witch at the stake compounded with the piling on factors of Notre Dame, LDS Church and possibly a little bit of bigotry.
