Okay, here's a question for sticksave or math wizards who can help me figure this out...
Super Lotto Odds question as an example. (Taken from the website)
How to play: Pick five lucky numbers from 1 to 47 and one MEGA number from 1 to 27 on a SuperLotto Plus playslip.
Okay, so you have 27 mega numbers to choose from... winning a Mega number by itself = $1.
Match Odds 1 in
All 5 of 5 and Mega 41,416,353
All 5 of 5 1,592,937
Any 4 of 5 and Mega 197,221
Any 4 of 5 7,585
Any 3 of 5 and Mega 4,810
Any 3 of 5 185
Any 2 of 5 and Mega 361
Any 1 of 5 and Mega 74
None of 5, Only Mega 49
Overall odds of winning 23
Then you look at their odds chart, it says the odds of winning just the mega number is 1 out of 49. I don't get it?
However, it says the odds of winning in general is 1 out of 23.
Is there a formula or something? Shouldn't the odds of winning be well... 1 out of 27?
