Throw the collar out and get a new one. One of mine got sprayed years ago, we used a peroxide / rubbing alcohol mix (be careful to keep it out of the eyes). It got rid of most of the stink but if you smelled her real close it lingered for about six months.

Woke up to the house smelling like skunk at 4am. Only one of my dogs was skunked bathed her at 4:15 with deskunk shampoo, dog does not smell anymore but the whole house stinks!

Any ideas how to get the smell out of the house? Gonna be too hot to open the windows and let the house air out.

If you can’t open the windows, you’re kind of screwed bro. You NEED to exchange that air out either by way of mechanical or natural ventilation and I’m pretty sure your home HVAC system doesn’t have a Fresh Air Exchange in it, as most residential homes don’t.

With no FAE, you'll just be coating your filter, coils, ductwork, furniture and carpet with Skunk oil, over and over and over again. You need to exchange the air, BIG TIME. Chemicals will just mask the smell temporarily.

Bite the bullet and open up the house for fresh air while running the HVAC fan(s) only. A few extra hours of heat and $$ spent on running the fans is waaaaay worth it compared to almost never getting the smell out of your house. YOU WILL regret not swapping out the air! And the longer you wait to do it, the more embedded the oils will become.

Oh, and make sure the pooch didnt rub the stink all over his bed, your bed, the couch, the carpet or anyother object he uses.

Or just tell everybody you started wearing the *New* Patchouli Oil and get all Hipster about it.

Next time...make sure he isn't disguised as a female skunk... This should keep the more amorous ones away...

Was able to open up the windows and air out a bit, going to close them before it gets too hot. Put dryer sheets (Bounce) on the air intakes for the A/C running fan only and now the house smells "Outdoor Fresh!" Running out in a bit to get new filters for the A/C, hope I took care of it and did not just mask it.
