Need lgk prayers, thoughts and karma for a friend with cancer
I have hesitated on doing this because this shouldn't be about me but I think it is time to get a good old fashion prayer/karma chain going for a very good friend of mine. This is a guy I have been friends with for over 25 years. He has been living with Stage 4 colon cancer for the last 3 and half years and as amazing as that has been he has been kicking a$$ and holding his own with it. He has been getting weekly chemo treatments for the last 3 years. In a nutshell it has been brutal and grueling for him, his wife, family and friends.
A couple of weeks ago he was having stomach pains and the doc's thought he had a blockage. They opened him up and found a new tumor where the original one had been that was removed over 3 years ago. The amazing thing is the guy, up to this point, had been living his life like there was no tomorrow, doing what he wanted and when he wanted, and really not showing any ill effects from the cancer or chemo, other then the normal hair loss. So now he has the perfect storm in that his cancer is back full force and he has a really awful infection in his liver and has sepsis. The doctors have basically thrown up their hands and he was admitted to hospice on Sunday. The amazing thing, though, is he is now holding out when all the doctors have bet against him and put him in hospice. We all assume the worst/end is near but who are we to say??!! He is alert, awake and knows what is going on to the extent that he has his iPad with him for entertainment and is project managing his own memorial! LOL!
So I am asking for two things here. Please pray for him, and if it is God's will, pray that he somehow has his body heal this infection and allow him to have some more time on this planet with his loved ones. And two, if that isn't the plan and his time is indeed soon, pray for his wife, family and friends to feel God's grace and family/friends care, concern and love in this time of true need.
Cancer just sucks, as it got my own dad last July, and we just have to pray about it. Thanks for any and all who have read and will pray about this.

Lost my Dad to colon cancer at 62. Lost a good friend to cancer at 42. An aunt. Grandparents. Cancer sucks. I don't pray, but my thoughts are with your friend and his family.

Your friend is a poster boy for strength. I only hope I face the end as well as he has. Lost my dad to cancer. Not pretty.
I've seen folks put in hospice and told the end is weeks away; only to be around for a few more years. Hope this is what happens for your friend...

You got it, prayers being sent. Went through a similar situation with my dad, so I know it well.

One other thing I forgot to mention about this guy that should interest any true Kings fan. The night the Kings won the Cup the first text of congratulations I got for "my team" winning it was from him. The other thing he has in common with us Kings fans is he is a dyed in the blue wool Cubs fan. I don't feel sorry for many fans but Cubs fans I do wholeheartedly.
