Ok this guy is clearly an idiot. But how bout our lovely TSA agents? They missed three things. The guy was able to bring on weed,a pipe and a lighter. Yet we still have to take our shoes and our belt off.....

the tsa is a bunch of dim-witted gropers. that such fools are able to get clearances and become federal agents is an insult to rank of agent.

but if you think about it, getting a joint and some matches on board a plane shouldn't be hard. i don't advocate it, but none of these things are metallic, and presumably they don't have drug-sniffing dogs at all lax terminals (disclaimer: this is my un-educated guess, not based on any insider knowledge of the airport) or at the driving entrances. i would think if you found a clever place to hide it on your person you could get on board with these items. again, i don't advocate it, just thinking out loud

i've had matches in my pocket that i forgot about that i ended up bringing home from london back in '04. those screening processes are definitely all just a going through the motions charade than any actual security measure.

Back in my day, we were content lighting farts.

You can take lighters on board now. I flew out if lgb and had the lighter go through the screening with no problem.

i think (but am not sure) that lighters have always been ok because of the smoking lobbyists. for some reason, back then in '04, i think i recall being surprised about the matches realizing that lighters were ok and matches were a big no no. something about the matches being more dangerous because you can use a bunch of them and/or not being contained like the lighter fluid in a lighter is. i have no idea. i could be totally wrong. it's been a little over 7 yrs, so i don't know.

generally speaking, TSA agents have their jobs because they couldn't hold down a job at the drive thru at Micky D's.
