Someone needs to tell her to shove that collection plate where the sun don't shine the next time she passes it around. And thereafter.
And to add BS on top of this, Applebees fired the waitress for releasing the receipt:
Applebee's Waitress Fired For Sharing 'I Give God 10%' Tip Receipt
I have come to realize that when you get your order wrong it is usually not the waiters fault, but the kitchen. I have had it happen where the waiter will read my order back correctly, but when I get my food, its incorrect. So I dont blame the waiter for that. But I do blame the waiter (it has only happened once) where it took them 30 min to get our drink order, and an hour+ to get our food (was only 4 people) and it was not even busy
Anyway, this whole situation of the server getting fired for posting the receipt is garbage. That pastor was using her position as an excuse for being a tightwad. Just about every restaurant charges an automatic gratuity for parties of 8 or more just because they're more difficult to deal with and they hardly ever tip according to percentage. The thing about tipping is that we can argue all we want about why should I pay 15 or 20 percent no matter how good or bad the service is? Well, good or bad you are getting service. People are cooking food for you and bringing it out to you. There's also the fact that tipped employees don't make minimum wage & those tips are considered part of their salary. It's even reported to the IRS as their salary even if they don't actually receive those tips. I believe that everyone should be paid a decent wage, and that tips should be voluntarily given for good service, and that a portion of it should be split up among the whole kitchen. But until that happens I'm still going to give the standard 15-20% tip. And if I have a problem with the service I'm going to complain to the manager. Most of the time they'll comp you in some way. Which is what that pastor should've done instead of leaving that note. But what was worse was when she called that Applebees and demanded that everyone involved be fired. I'm getting more and more fed up with so-called religious people who use belief in God as an excuse for being horrible people.
