Good luck to you! I just got engaged too and live in Pasadena so whatever you do come up with let me know because I need a venue as well! I was thinking of doing it at Pasadena City Hall (It's not as bad as you think) or Descanso Gardens.

You may also like this place called Castle Green. Nice interior/exterior and fairly cheap (atleast compared to the Huntington Gardens Standard).

I'm going to a wedding in July on a yacht and I believe the total price was around 75$ per person which isn't too bad if you are not having a lot of people attending. If you are interested I can look that up for you as well.

Thats Rancho Capistrano. We were married there. I thought they were closing it down. I guess someone bought it and kept it open?

    Congratulations..

The LA Arboretum is a great place, used to live down the street, rose gardens and all, don't know what the cost would be though.

i wanted to get married at the pasadena city hall because i love the '20s era architecture. they were closed for all of the summer of '04 for renovations though so i ended up choosing the asian art museum a few blocks away. it was lovely. then we had our reception at a chinese restaurant in rosemead.

    here's some pics--

i took a look at descando gardens also. it's a pretty location, but it wasn't my thing. i wanted something a lot smaller.

they'll let you get married but you have to bring in everything to make it happen, which is a lot of work.

no, both pics are from my wedding at the asian art museum in pasadena.
i think it only cost me a small donation and a year's membership at the museum to get married there. haha.
we rented chairs, the lanterns and a vintage rolls, paid a bagpiper to do the music for my walk down the aisle and hired a local florist that the museum recommended to do the flowers. i'd say the photog was the most expensive out of everything other than the reception at the restaurant.

btw, congrats on the impending nuptials!
