Phrases that piss you off....

Irregardless...

He's being laxadaisical...

Anything with the word "literally" in it. "My head literally exploded it hurt so bad." "My jaw literally dropped to the floor when I saw them together." No it didn't, unless you're some kind of major freak.

I had a law school professor that went ape s**t when someone said "irregardless" in class. "It's not a word! It's not a word!" he ranted.

So a friend entered "irregardless" into a search engine of published court opinions and got something like 10 results.

Who pluralizes a plural?

I got a degree or two in English, which you wouldn't know from my bad grammerz on this site, lol, but my profs, all PHDs on the subject, said, that only one faculty member in the apartment uses irregardless as word.

They didn't like it. The fact that we know what it means makes it a word, but it's one of the most pretentious words you can use that even English professors roll their their eyes at it and see said user as people trying too hard.

I don't like people being snobs about language, irregardless, I understand that people have been taught differently. mhihi: :manybeers:

My rule: if you try to say a word and it sounds like you're drunk but you're not, then you're just trying to be an uppity douche. I think Freud said that.
