The only appropriate response upon hearing that phrase is a solid punch to the nose. "Now think about the reason for what just happend. Shouldn't be difficult."

Talk about a cop out. How about offering tangible and practical advice/sympathy/empathy/solutions, or keep to yourself.

I'm not trying to start a religious debate. I respect anyone's right to have their beliefs. If you like to pray, then go ahead. I truly believe that people who offer such a phrase usually do so with well enough intentions, but in my opinion, it really comes off as useless or condescending in context to any situation. Umami is a really good one too. But its almost its own beast. The best way I could describe its taste is, rich. Not a huge burger by any stretch but they are dense and filling.

Rich is a good description. Also I tell people I heard Umami is great, now that I've had a burger I know it's great.
