The comet may have been done for even before it made its close approach to the sun, he noted. "It appears that all of the water [in the comet] evaporated before it even got to perihelion," Pesnell said. "The ice is the cement that holds the comet together."

    Pretty cool vids though:

Makes me wonder if Ison's debris trajectory and its slower speed put it closer to Earth. Orignal trajectory had it passing 40 million miles slightly over and ahead of Earth.

Study gives new meaning to ‘let your fingers do the walking’ | Research News @ Vanderbilt | Vanderbilt University

Calling bull**** on this one. People may not memorize the location of all the keys, as one would with something like state capitols, but they have to be aware of where they are at some point in time to be able to type at all.

Some good background in here. I believe the following to be true as well:

The culture of biology is rapidly changing and scientists and the public need to keep up. Synthetic biology has the potential to generate a new industrial revolution. It is perhaps the defining technology for the 21st century and it is happening now. Without an informed public discourse, fear of this unprecedented and sometimes unsettling technology may hinder the world-changing promise it harbours.
