They are, but there is a cluster here in northern california. I've in a lot of this country and I grew up in southern california. In general there is a passive aggresive superiority complex here that doesn't exist anywhere else. More often than not up here someone will do something and then deny they did it with some lame excuse.

On a separate note (clearly this was not deserved that the chick who slapped her should be dealt with accordingly), I hate it when you know how an article is going to read after the first line.
