Default Toronto Road trip advice please. . .

Me and two buddies here in Chicago were going to road trip out to Toronto next weekend to visit some other friends for some OHL and drinking.
We have been planning it for a couple weeks, and we just realized this. . .

One of us has a current passport

One of us has an expired passport

One of us has no passport, but other paperwork (birth cert etc.)

What do you think we should do? Just hang out in Chicago? the 2 with passports (albeit one expired) go without paperwork guy? Or everyone go and say **** it?

Canada will not let you in without a current passport.

There is a passport center in Chicago that can issue them on site, Schedule an Appointment at the Chicago Passport Agency, it will cost you $60 extra in addition to the other fees required. If you are only going to visit Canada/Mexico by car then the Passport Card will work. Otherwise you need a full passport.

The guy without a passport already applied for one a month and a half ago and is unwilling to expedite for more money.
He did offer to get the first 3 rounds here if we stay though. He's married but has a 'hall pass' for the weekend, he's trying to keep us all local and maybe find an AHL game within strike distance. hahahaha

No passport , no border crossing .
If he has DUI or other conviction
then it will cost you extra to get into Canada.
If he gets across some how with out the passport then when you cross back it will be a major ballache to get back in .
I think you can only get a card if you are a resident of a border town .
You can get a nexus card if you are transporting goods back and forth frequently

All the rules changed after 9/11 and the Canucks now give back as good as they get at US customs .

He should've applied for a passport months ago .
He can expedite it for extra cash

They are correct. There is absolutely no entry into Canada without a valid passport. Not only that but they usually won't let u in unless your valid passport has at least 6 months left until expiry. Just had this issue with one of my employees last July.

We canceled the roadie and turned it into Chicago Wolves vs. Ice Hogs (Canucks AHL v Blackhawks AHL)
Homeland security is such a boondoggle.
