Default Vancouver trip: into enemy territory!

So tomorrow me and the family head up to spend a week in Vancouver then move on to a week long Alaska cruise.

I have being going to Vancouver for many years and have many friends and family up there. Despite what you may think, Vancouver is a really cool city and there are lots of nice people up there, some just get squirrely when hockey in involved, in fact some downright decent people become instant a-holes: just add hockey.

So here is where it is going to be fun: My suitcase is going to be full of Kings gear. I plan on wearing Stanley Cup Champion Kings gear all around town!

Will I get dirty looks? Will I be subject to nasty comments and smack talk? Or has enough time passed? Will some be cool and talk hockey and give the Kings their due?

Who knows? But it should be fun either way!

KP, if you stop in Juneau, you must take a cab to Alaskan Brewery for tour and tasting.

Well, some *******s are just *******s, every city has it's share. But I not am exaggerating, I do know a couple of dudes who are otherwise great guys, but when the Canucks game comes on they turn into stark raving madmen. It is like a Jekyll and Hyde sort of thing.

didn't some other LGKer visit that city a month ago or so? he/she reported back saying that the people there gave a lot of respect even when he was wearing the Kings stuff.

Kp, if you have time and access to a vehicle come down to Tulalip, NE of Everett, WA. I will meet you at the Indian casino and buy you a cold one! If you can't make it south have a great time! I spent my birthday in Vancouver with the family two years ago and we had a great time. Typically great Canadian people, good food and great beer.

And I just got back from fishing Sitka, AK. The weather sucks this summer but Alaska is Alaska ... Like no other place on Earth. I love it there. Have a great cruise.

That sounds great, thanks for the offer! But my schedule will be such that I doubt I could come down. If anything changes though I will shoot you a PM.

Thanks for the idea. The wife and I will be doing an Alaska cruise on the 8th of Sep, spending the day before in Vancouver. NOW, I will be taking a jersey with my newly sewn on Stanley Cup Champions patch and my SCC polo shirt will be there also. Thanks again

I just got back a few weeks ago. I wore my Kings hat everyday and only got a few stink eyes. A few people started a conversation with me about hockey and it turned out fine. The people I ran into are just hockey fans like me. Go to the gelato place by the cauldron/waterfront.

I visited in late May, wore my Kings gear didn't really got many looks, no one even talked hockey to me until I went to Rogers Arena (fun tour and well worth the $12 and you might get some leftover quarterfinal swag)
