I manscape by dipping my balls in nair! It tends to hurt, but I don't use my balls a lot these days, so it evens out.

Well, since Im home watching a sick ragamuffin, bored and not willing to work on the honeydo, Ive decided to start my "Here comes SPRING!" list of things I need to buy prior to the start of spring here on the East Coast. Around this time of year, every year, I make a list of items I'll need/want around the house when the cold weather breaks in about 8-10 weeks here in Va. Soon, the loony stores here will drive up the prices on everything "warm" to make a extra buck and the local loonies will buy that stuff at outrageous prices. So to save a few bucks and the hassle of dealing with spring fever Ass****s, I start to stock up on stuff now.

First and probably most expensive goodie on Spring: 2013 list is a new gas grill. As much as I love Charcoal and Wood Grills, my bad back wont allow me to do the lifting required to properly use one so gas it is. Anyway, I usually buy a brand spanking new grill once every 3 years or so. My current grill (Charmglow aka, "Giant Piece of Stainless Steel Merda") is on year 4 because I had a triple Laminectomy on my L3/4/5 last March and was laid out until September. DO NOT BUY A CHARMGLOW OR BRINKMANN GRILLS!!! The stainless steel rusts (yep, crappy "stainless steel" will flash rust in 1 use), the flame diffusers melted, the burners cracked and the regulators broke...all after half a season. I spent more time on the phone, web and at Home Depot getting replacement parts than I did time on the grill. Garbage! Anyway, yes, I could buy a super badass Viking, Wolf or B Pride for what I've spent on grills over the past 10 years BUT I like having a new, spotless, clean, out-o-the-box grill every few years or so. Its kind of like my relationship with socks. Yes, after 6 months of wearing, washing and *whatever else* I do with them, they're still socks and still accomplish what they were designed to do BUT... I LOVE NEW SOCKS and must, must, MUST have a BRAND NEW batch every few months. Same deal I have with grills. When I find and purchase a new grill, I either sell the old one on CL, sell it at my annual yard sale (yes, yearly...its spiritually cleansing for me), give it to my Step Father and Mother or donate it to the local soup kitchen. The current old one I have is going straight to the scrap yard. Worst $500 grill on the planet. Anyway, here are the 3 I have narrowed it down to:

I like the color and its exclusive to Lowes. I wont buy another all stainless grill again. What a pain in the ass to keep clean. This has fantastic reviews, easy to find replacement parts and its made in the good ole USA with American Steel. Right now, this bad boy is in the front of the pack in my mind.Any current owners out there? Thoughts?

Ive heard of Broil King before but have zero idea about them. If I recall correctly, I think Broil King was a big grill company back in the 60's and 70's along with Weber which seems to have held their own over the years. Thats probably why I have lean towards Weber products. My Pops only grilled on Weber back in the day. It was the benchmark brand then and seems to be the benchmark brand 35 years later.

Any thoughts on them? Any other brand I should look at in the meanwhile? My $$$ range is from $500-$1000 with a minimum of 40K BTU and 400sq inch top. Anything else is fair game. Thanks!!!

Edit: Dont get me wrong, yes this post is slanted towards the Weber BUT I am VERY willing to give another brand a try like I did that POS, Home Depot Charmglo I currently have. Like I hinted at, I like Weber but I'm not uber brand loyal to them. Ive actually had 3 over the past 25 years with 2 of the 3 being the good ole' Charcoal Kettle. I also had a obscure Japanese brand that I absolutely adored when I lived in Hawaii. I should have NEVER sold it.

I'm getting the Weber. Just waiting for Home Depot to have their spring grill sale.

my husband has the weber charcoal 22.5 with side tables on it. he is/was an eagle scout so i think that has something to do with his desire to build the fire himself or whatever. he likes it a lot and i like the results when he fires it up.

Real men don't use gas grills! Gas is ok on certain occasions. But using a good ole Weber is what men use. And also, real men don't use match light charcoal. Use a coal starter!

I swear by my Big Green Egg XL.



I've done everything from 16 hour low-n-slow pork shoulder and brisket to ribs to whole chickens to fish to hamburgers to steaks on this thing. Let me tell you that EVERYTHING has turned out so good that I have almost completely sworn off going to barbecue restaurants of any kind. It is SUPER efficient with the lump charcoal, burning so slowly that after starting with a full fire box and doing a 16 hour, 250-degree smoke, I still have a half full firebox of charcoal. Temperature is HIGHLY and PRECISELY controllable via venting inlet and outlet air.

Their customer service is SECOND TO NONE as well. It is a high-quality, well built tool. You absolutely get what you pay for. That said, they're not inexpensive. But it WILL be the last barbecue or smoker you ever buy.

So you can continually add coals to it as needed in that bottom opening? I'm really intrigued by these. Never used one or even seen one in use. W/ the egg and the extras are you looking at about $1k?
