no, No, NO Man thread on second PAGE!
So the Skull Candy earbuds I bought back in November (see post 67) broke. The plastic housings on both sides cracked and they finally fell apart. But at least I got my $4 worth out of them. I decided to bite the bullet and buy a pair of pricey Sennheiser IE 60's and HO-LEEE S**T are these AWSOME! There really are NO words to describe them. They're on a whole another level of sound and construction. The cord feels like industrial 'shot cord' and the buds themselves are metal. Buh bye cheapo earbuds. Well worth the extra $$$.
Even though its been somewhat of a bizarre winter/spring here in the Mid-Atlantic with below average temps (still in the low to mid 60's when it should be in the upper 70's by now), Ive managed to knock off 8 Ground hogs with my Stoeger .22 airgun (see post 76). By my estimates, that’s about 40% of the population from last year. I do think the message has been received by the remaining Hogs as they've started to thin out on their own over the past 2 weeks… Which is good because I wanted to get rid of them before this year’s pups started to show. I Absolutely WILL NOT leave pups orphaned...not cool at all.
Bought a pair of Skullcandy ear buds and they broke a couple months later. Lesson learned. Meanwhile my Sennhiesers are still working well.
Sennheiser and Bose: the only two manufacturers who's products I will stick in my ears.
Speaking of...I just bought a new aviation headset to replace a broken POS Telex that the company gave out. Bose A20. I picked it up at the Bose kiosk in Denver Airport's C concourse, today on my way through there.
Let me tell you, this headset is TITS. It's noise-cancelling circuitry takes an old noisy-ass beater 737-300 cockpit and makes it sound like a sailplane. No ****. It sure will cut down on the noise-related fatigue at the end of the day. Combine that with the 1/8" audio jack and an MP3 player, and you have an amazingly immersive pair of audio headphones as well. I sat on my bed this afternoon and just listened to music through them. I swear it was like listening to all the songs I chose for the first time!!! AMAZING.
And it's a TAX DEDUCTION, baby!!
I also own a pair of Bose IE2 earbuds that are the best earbuds I've ever owned.
Bose has GREAT customer service on top of OUTSTANDING quality products.
Sennheiser doesn't slouch, either. I've owned several aviation headsets of theirs in the past and I've always been very pleased.
Bad news man...
Life lesson # 14,375: Do NOT sling new $200+ earbuds over shoulder whilst taking a piss over a toilet. As soon as you start the "empty the tube" shake (and dudes know what I'm talking about), the earbuds will suicide dive over your shoulder and into the pool... :( F***!
speaking of expensive things that don't last long but would they be worth it?
as in I'm shopping for a quality dial caliper after mine suicide slid off the work table and suicide crashed onto the concrete floor last week. a beautiful Mitutoyo. had it for 5 years.
so I'm poking around for a new one:
Brown & Sharpe ($$$$$) I've heard GREAT things about them. great feel and handle. ruler slides smoothly unlike other dial calipers. BUT it is not the time for me, unless I'm building airplanes and jets.
Etalon ($$$$) looks great but they don't have any 8 inch models. I think B&S owns this firm now.
Mitutoyo ($$$). great selection for a good price
all others including Starett and SPI have seen quality declining for the past several years, so no thanks.
Mitutoyo is my choice, once again.
Sorry BeerBro, can't help you there. My tolerances are measured in 64ths and greater.
Anyone got any good Man Projects going on this summer? I'm putting the final touches on my Kitchen rehab that started last year. Today is "Install the killer new Kitchen-Aid cab mount Oven" day. Its the last major appliance I needed to replace. Needless to say, wife is uber-stoked.
Whatchu guys up to?
I want to build a shed to be put in the carport here. I could have Home Cheepo send their crew to put together a Tuff Shed that I wanted, but with lack of space for them to work around for the OH**** compliance, no dice. that leaves me with one choice, a DIY project.
once built, which may take course over several weekends, the need for paying for and driving to the extra storage space get. eliminated. and my wife, too, will be uber-stoked!
Well, I'm a Hero once again in the nocturn household. Badass oven is installed and working properly after 2 weeks of no oven. Score 1 for the Dads.
Funny thing is after I did the initial "burn-off" of the oven, I decided to head out to the garage for a celebratory Landshark (yeah, celebratory and symbolic at the same time) or 4. After 15 minutes, I walked back in to volume 10 with the wife and kid head banging to "Whiplash". The funny thing is the lyrics had apparently changed to "...were dancing all around....baking like a maniac, Pork Hash!"
My wife is awesome. Lol.
