School Shooting In Connecticut: '27 Killed' - Yahoo! News UK

Just when I think I am a bit too cynical something like this happens. I think I am justified in thinking most of humanity sucks and good folks are the exception, not the rule. But lest you think I am too negative I cherish the good folks I know and my friends, which includes my "cyber-friends" here on LGK. Sounds silly I know to call people on a website "friends" but even without meeting some of you folks I feel like we would be friend if we met. And for those I have met in person over the years, without exception, have been wonderful people.

So here is to you LGK community, you are good people and to RR for making it possible.

Thoughts and prayers to all those involved........if there is a surviving suspect.......MAY YOU ROT IN HELL YOU MOTHER--------ING COWARD!
We are the Samurai, the warrior elite who protect and serve. Armed and armored from head to toe, masters of our personal weapons and bound by Honor, Duty, Loyalty, and Honesty. We walk the long path into the places society would prefer forgotten, and chase those demons that most would run from screaming in fear. We are the Samurai.

Not that I condone suicide....but if you are thinking of shooting up innocent people, go off yourself first.

I hadn't heard the news and I was reading a tweet from the Martinez thread and saw Alec mention something about thoughts and prayers for the people in Connecticut, went to Google and have been floored since. If you have issues and want to end your own life, do it. Why take out a bunch of innocent people, especially children?

Thoughts and prayers to those having to deal with this senseless act.

Violence everywhere you look anymore; movies,tv,games,news.etc. It's becoming a very scary world we live in. Maybe things like this took place in the past (doubtful) but news travels so fast and world wide anymore, seems we're getting numb to hearing of them.
I have a lot of old radio to tv shows on dvd and it's nice to play them and not hear one word having to be beeped out and maybe was a fantasy world but, sure a nice place to live in.

Sensationalizing it makes it justified to the wack jobs.

at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

So glad I didn't hear about this story before dropping off my kids at school this morning. Or this one, which happened a few hours earlier:

It was a fantasy world indeed. The world is far, far less violent than it has ever been in human history. Poverty and hunger are also at far lower levels than they have ever been. Doesn't make what happened any less tragic, of course.

Made a lot of sense to me. Please stop making these murderers into celebrities.

No, you're very wrong abt that. It didn't use to be like it is now.
As I've said before, I grew up in the "Happy Days", "Rebel Without A Cause" era and life was much less complicated, dangerous, and mean in those days. Not that I was a goody-two-shoes, first boyfriend was a member of the So. Calif. Chapter of the Hell's Angels, Kline was the local leader. But life was much different back then.

Our society has become one where those that don't get the attention they want turn to these kinds of acts so they can be famous. Our culture is all about celebrity. Makes me sick. Agree with SloMo here. Between today's act and the Portland mall a couple of days ago - it all makes me very sad. Rest in peace kids.
