At times, it wasn’t pretty but we made the most of the chances we had. Connecticut kept coming at us and our energy was low so we changed a few things to counter their attack and it seemed to settle things down. It went down to the buzzer.

“Our penalty killers deserve lots of credit for doing such a great job. Any time you earn two points on the road, you have to feel good about it.”

The Monarchs picked up the game-winning goal at 15:40 of the second period with center Oscar Moller’s11th goal of the season. The play started in the neutral zone when Monarchs defenseman Andrew Campbell started the transition by passing the puck over to fellow defenseman David Kolomatis who then rifled a pass up the boards to Moller. The center streaked up the boards and blasted a shot on net that found its way past goaltender Joel Martin to give the Monarchs their third lead of the night.

Voynov, a second-round draft pick by the Los Angeles Kings in 2008 and an AHL All-Star for the second time in as many seasons, hit the All-Star Classic leading all AHL defensemen in both goals (11) and points (36) through 46 contests.

Jones finished the competition stopping 21-of-29 shots (0.724 save-percentage) for the Eastern Conference. A rookie netminder with the Monarchs, Jones entered the All-Star break with a 17-5-0 record, a 2.17 goals-against-average and a 0.930 save percentage.

Voynov (14.197) won fastest skater by 0.053 sec over Jamie Arniel (14.250).

I dont know if they are doing the same corse that the NHL did but if they are then Voynov would have came in 2nd to Grabner (14.061) and would have beat Tayler Hall (14.621) by almost a half a sec.

There was a rapid fire event where Martin Jones went 5/5, 4/5 and 4/5. An event called pass and score where Jones stpped 3/3. Then he stopped 5/6 in the breakaway event. Im not sure where the article got 21/29, by my calculations he went 21/24 with a .875 save %. I could be missing something though.

So I'm watching the AHL All-Star game (yeah I'm hardcore) and as they are introducing these players I'm wondering if someone went in the locker-room before the game and told the players that if they smiled, their families would be tortured and killed.
I don't usually notice things like this, but these guys looked like they were at a ****ing funeral with the exception of a couple hometown players and Eric Tangradi.
Is it really that serious of a ****ing drag to play in the AHL??? WTF?
