Ok. Forgot it was a Monarchs road game. But thanks for the pictures. I'm hoping to get over to Manchester myself, if they get deeper into the playoffs.

Yeah. I was telling Blando this in the shoutbox last night. He was an unmitigated disaster last night IMO. He couldn't make a tape to tape pass, was playing all the wrong angles, pinched at the wrong times and just generally didn't look that confident out there. I definitely saw him doing a couple pirouettes when trying to track his man or the puck. His skating was off too. From what I've heard about his game, this sounds like an off night for him but it sure was noticeable to me.

Jake Muzzin had a great game and was definitely the best defender on the ice tonight. Andrew Campbell and Thomas Hickey also looked good. Hickey, however, had a better game in the offensive zone. He definitely made a few errors in his own zone but they weren't all that bad.

Brayden Schenn didn't have much of an impact on the game in the first period, but from the second period onwards, he was one of the best forwards on the ice. Him and Holloway were instrumental in the Monarchs' late charge in the 3rd.

Martin Jones looked sharp. There might have been one goal that you might've wanted back, but I really can't fault him. The monarchs' D was getting picked apart on the cross ice passes. They also struggled to clear the front of the net in the 2nd period.

On a side note, I really liked Jordan Nolan's play on the penalty kill. He reminded me of a speedier Michal Handzus out there. He doesn't read the play as well as Zeus, but I still liked his game.

The team looks good this year. I'm just happy that they were playing Binghamton in the first round. It was only a one hour drive for me

Sweep'em in their own house next game boys. Not a series sweep, but three playoff wins in a row on enemy ice would be pretty impressive.

David Kolamatis - it was a real feast or famine night for him. He made some nice plays in the offensive zone but he got caught too often pinching at the wrong times (which, in turn, led to some outnumbered attacks going the other way).

Rich Clune - he was playing his game. chirping at everyone but aside from that an unspectacular game.

David Meckler - actually probably had an underrated performance last night. Made some nice plays down low but was also able to get back on defensively when some of the D pinched at the wrong times

Brandon Kozun - a forgettable game. Not a knock on him per say but nothing really that great (or bad).

Ray Kaunisto - played alongside Schenn. They had some chemistry, particularly towards the end of the game.

Bud Holloway - It's worth mentioning that this kid seems to just step up at the right times. It's easy to forget he's on the ice at times but he just seems to come up big. To be quite honest, I'm having a hard time evaluating his game. He's just clutch.

Justin Azevedo - the guy was bringing it but man he's small. He was really getting knocked around by some of the bigger Binghamton forwards

As far as the Bingmaton players go

I'm biased because he just graduated from Cornell last year, but Colin Greening had a good game. That guy has NHL size right now and he plays a smart physical game. I actually think that he would fit into the Kings system quite well.

As I'm sure you guys saw on the score sheet, Ryan Potulny had a good game. He crashed the net like a freight train and the D just couldn't clear him out of the crease.

That's pretty much all I can think of right now. Keep in mind that I only saw these guys play one game live so it's entirely possible that these performances were anomalies (for good and bad). They're playing the Senators in Binghamton tonight too. If I wasn't so swamped with school work, I would've gone again :(

    Another CHL/AHL merge:

Monarchs sign Robbie Czarnik, J-F Berube and Ontario Reign dman, Shawn Germain, to amateur tryout contracts! Would be surprised to see them get any action, but at least they'll get to practice in Manchester and experience AHL playoffs.

Moller could be back soon. That would help Manchester.
