the way I see it, whatever his reason, whatever the role, he's 30 and a pro hockey player. maybe he's the veteran "dad" presence in the locker room teaching the kids something important that the fans don't know about. at the echl level, they arent all gonna end up superstars... but maybe he has a valuable lesson to teach aside from hockey. i mean damn, it's not like he's jack johnson.

I was on the 'oust Starling bandwagon' for the 1st year. I felt the same frustration that 99% of other Reign fans were feeling on Starlings style of play. Then I became aware of what he was having to deal with during season uno through a great source of mine. Dude was busted up with various injuries but still remained in there and they required surgery in that offseason.
His physical game seemed to pick up in season 2.
Then, he gets the diagnosed 'groin pull' that turned into a sports hernia last year that sidelined him for almost the entire season.
I really think Chad wants to prove something to the doubters, and if healthy, may become a fan favorite afterall. Compare him to Zedano Chara...both are huge but Chara's reputation isn't to go out and pulverize the opposition on a consistant basis.
Dude's also clutch in the shoot out.
