Thread: ECHL Thread 2010-11 - Ontario Reign

GREAT event today. I got my two games used sticks signed by the team and won some cool stuff at the raffle at the end. We got a Karl Taylor 06 All start jersey, he coached, a signed puck and pair of half season seats. Bought the wife a pink reign jersey and a few tee shirts.

It was quite fun - always interesting to stroll around the locker room and just mosey around parts of the arena you don't normally get to see.

Coach Taylor was his usual friendly self - chilling in his office with his two little ones. He was talking hockey with anyone who came by and seemed to enjoy the day. The players were basically goofballs, which is always the case at this level with mostly 20-23 year-olds. I got a kick out of the bulletin board postings in the locker room... you can tell what level you're at when there are notices about meal planning, hydration, and travel requirements... and I bet after about 50 of them, "The sandwich that never gets boring"... probably does.

Strangest sight: Cole skating by herself with not one person going up to her, for autographs or a chat or anything. She looked downright sad! The Ice girls got plenty of attention, as did Blaze (didn't see the Dark Knight), pretty much anybody with a badge on got questions except Cole.

Nice touch to feed everyone hot dogs and cookies. Merch was half off but since it's all about three times what I would want to pay anyway, didn't mean much to me. All I'd want to buy are some of the special jerseys, and they're not for sale anyway. LOVE the silver and black throwbacks from last season. Maybe some Chinese company will save the day and bootleg it.

Anyway, a fun way to burn a couple of hours. I hope the team manages to sell enough season seats for next year to keep fan events like this going.

You should have gone up to Cole and said Hello. She has been dealing with a temporary medical condition and is unable to smile, hence the sad look...but she does love the fans and the game. By the way the Reign staff are by far the BEST EVER.

We have been to a few Reign Games and it is incredible to hear and see how much the Reign Fans get into the games and how much they love their team......so fun! We are becoming fans.

Cole is very much approachable. I bug her all the time

yeah she may have Bells Palsy, just by looking at her. My sister had that due to stress of her wedding and crap, it does go away and did before my sister got married.

Yea, no kidding. I was talking to Justin Kemp the other day and he had just met with Luc to discuss that whole situation. With the limited resources and the fact that the coach is also the recruiter, no players assigned from the Kings means even less time for actual coaching of players (which they certainly need).

I just dropped off my renewal forms and was talking to my Rep. He said that they are also considering adding a second NHL affiliate.

Welcome to the ECHL. (Although I have to say there were a few times this year when the Royals affiliates took and gave back at the same time...it was a very odd thing to see)
