We let one (point) slip away last night versus the LV Floppers. Corrozzi played well enough to win, but the PP went 1/6, and undisciplined play in the final period cost us a victory in regulation, IMO. Vegas was diving all game long (looked like a lost episode of Sea Hunt), with the ref. buying into their chicanery more often than not. Brady Calla's short-handed goal at 10:51 in the 3rd was a thing of beauty (put us up 3-2), but five Ontario penalties (reminiscent of the "Parade to the Sin Bin" seen all too often in years past) and a soft five-hole goal in OT let it go to waste.
Let's hope the lost point doesn't come back to haunt us with regard to playoff seeding. It's been a great season thus far, and who wouldn't love to see a Kelly Cup banner hoisted in CBBA next fall. But our PIMs (2nd in the league), mediocre special teams (9th overall on the PP and 10th in PK), and recent struggles maintaining a lead leave me with some doubts. True, we're already guaranteed a playoff spot. Congrats to the team on that. We've been to the dance twice before and failed to get beyond the first round. Hopefully, the third time will truly be the charm.
Let's go, Reign!
