Default Wranglers Fold to Reign 3-1 in First Preseason Match

Wranglers Fold to Reign 3-1 in First Preseason Match
    Calla nets two in Opener

LAS VEGAS, NV – The Ontario Reign, 2011-12 Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL’s 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, made a strong preseason appearance against the Las Vegas Wranglers at Orleans Arena on Thursday, Oct. 4 with a 3-1 victory.

The game had a slow start with a scoreless first period. Reign defense had a strong hold against the Wranglers killing two penalties in the frame and allowing only five shots on rookie goaltender Kris Moore.

Heading into the second period the Reign took control outshooting the Wranglers 18 to four. Brock Sheahan made the most of a power-play opportunity sending a hard shot into the Wranglers net from the point. Veteran forward Dan DaSilva and Colton Yellow Horn picked up the assists. Just over a minute later, rookie Weston Cydell fired a slapshot on Vegas goaltender Joe Fallon, the shot was deflected in by Brady Calla for Ontario’s second power-play goal of the night. Everett Sheen got the second assist on the play.

Ontario continued to keep strong possession of the puck into the final frame holding Las Vegas to just one goal. Wranglers Captain Chris Francis received a centering pass and got one past Moore from the slot. In the final seconds of the contest, Las Vegas pulled Fallon allowing for Calla to get his second preseason tally.

Moore faced 12 shots allowing just one to get by, while Fallon took the loss allowing two goals and an empty netter.

    Three stars:
    1) ONT – Brock Sheahan
    2) LV – Joe Fallon
    3) LV – Chris Francis

    Reign Drops:

They beat the Wranglers again last night at CBBA. Let's hope it carries over into the regular season. Brad Phillips looked good in goal against the defending Western Conference champs.

The team as a whole looked pretty impressive last. We are going to be in for a great season as fans.

Not with the NHLPA locked out. There could be an increase in send downs though.

I went to americaonesports and paid for 30 days for $30 so we could watch the games. Unfortunately, when we hooked up to my tv, it lagged so much we couldn't watch it. I ended up updating everything and I have a really good laptop I'm using so I'm still not sure. I went on the internet looking and found all kinds of streaming software? (xsplit) etc. But couldn't make heads or tails of it.

I think I"ll ask the IT dept at work tomorrow. They may know how to make it go faster.

I'm looking forward to watching some!
