Years before the Jonathan Quick of NHL playoff fame, there was Jonathan Quick, the highly touted, yet enigmatic prospect.

Selected 72nd overall by the Kings in the 2005 Entry Draft, Quick debuted two years later for Los Angeles' top affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League. The Milford-born netminder was impressive over a 19-game stint, posting 11 wins, three shutouts and a 2.32 goals-against average.

He was athletic, flexible and a fierce competitor. But, as a former assistant coach recalled, another trait stood out about Quick.
