BD Horror News - TV: NBC Orders Full 13-Episode Season of 'Hannibal'

NBC has given series orders to "Hannibal," a 13-episode drama from "Pushing Daisies"' Bryan Fuller featuring the classic characters from Thomas Harris' novel "Red Dragon," reports THR.

"Hannibal," from Gaumont International Television, is described as an hourlong contemporary thriller featuring characters from Harris' best-seller and revolves around FBI agent Will Graham and his mentor, Dr. Hannibal Lecter, who are reintroduced as the beginning of their budding relationship.

Lecter was made famous in the 1991 The Silence of the Lambs which landed Anthony Hopkins an Oscar.

Fuller is also working on the delayed "Mockingbird Lane," a reboot of "The Munsters."

Jennifer Johnson and Daniel Pyne ALCATRAZ Season 2 Interview

Unlike Doc I haven't quit on this show. Think it will get better.

The River on the other hand...too repetetive. If they are going to keep going with the 'mysterious-threat-of-the-week' with absolutely NO consequences, well, that's already tired. The shuffling camera trick is NOT a substitute for scary. It's simply trying to insert drama/excitement where there is none. Gonna stick with till the end of the 8 episodes, but I don't expect this to get any better.

There's a show I regret missing the boat on. Need to catch up on this.

BD Horror News - TV: Meet The Leader Of NBC's Cult "Midnight Son"

"Lost" and "Sons Of Anarchy" alum Titus Welliver is the first actor cast in NBC’s drama pilot "Midnight Sun," reports Deadline.

"The thriller, based on an Israeli format, follows the mysterious disappearance of Midnight Sun, a group living on a cult-like commune in Alaska, and a female FBI cult specialist leading the investigation that uncovers a larger conspiracy." I can only assume it's vampires who come out every "30 days of Night" (that was a bad joke).

Welliver will play Bennett Maxwell, the charismatic and manipulative leader of Midnight Sun.
Look, I know 9 out of 10 of this upcoming crop of genre shows will be duds and the 1 that actually works will probably not get a chance to survive...but it is nice to see network tv, not only making an attempt at scripted shows, but going in a dark sci-fi/fantasy/thriller direction. If we are lucky, at least one decent show will make it through the cancellation-fest.
