'Homeland' Executive Producer Drops Season 2 Hints | CraveOnline

But the truth about Brody may come to light during the second season of "Homeland," this fall. During a brief interview with TVLine, "Homeland" executive producer and showrunner Alex Gansa dropped a number of teasers for the new season, including the identity of Brody's latest nemesis: Mike Faber (Diego Klattenhoff), who was Brody's best friend and the former lover of Brody's wife, Jessica (Morena Baccarin).

“Mike is going to be a big factor,” said Gansa. “Since he’s in military intelligence, he is going to get a hold of the commission report on the assassination attempt against the vice president, and there’s going to be a bunch of stuff in there that doesn’t make sense to him.”

Gansa also addressed the more difficult question of how Carrie would reenter the intelligence community after her mental problems got her thrown out of the CIA. And Gansa was quick to acknowledge that the series can't simply sweep those events under the rug.

“It would have been too far a jump to bring her back into the fold full bore,” admitted Gansa. “However, there are ways that she can work around the edges of the intelligence community that make sense.”

Gansa noted that Carrie will get back involved with the Abu Nazir investigation very quickly, even if she is no longer welcome at the CIA. Regarding Carrie's moment of realization at the end of the first season finale, Gansa added that she will eventually realize that she was right about Brody.

“There’s a tremendous sense out there in the audience of wanting Carrie to know that she was right, that she’s not crazy and is really good at what she does, and that’s the moment we’re going to be building towards,” noted Gansa. “Whether it’s going to happen in Season 2, I can’t tell you.”
