Ulgh, screw you and you uber mega super massively ultra high ISO velvety smooth performance! I really like the gravel pit result that my 1600 ISO gives me
Seriously though, nice captures, the second is fantastic.

To RinkRat, many kudos on your flash and gel work, you are really getting great results with it. I need to get on the gel train, but to be honest, I am a little scared. I guess there is no better way to get over you fear then to try what you don't know.

To nocturn, the dragonflies continue to be rad-tastic, nice gets.

And to Beerman, holy cow do you know your LGK swag

I just got official word that this image of mine:

...is going to be used as the cover image for the 2009 Southwest Airlines Calendar (after a slight alteration to remove the shadow in the lower left-hand corner, that is - Thanks ValleyFan). I'm even getting PAID for the one-time use of the image ($250)!!

    SCORE!!!!
Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Bullets are cheap. Life is priceless.

I did some more testing of the remote flashes at the Doll Factory last night. I think this is close to what I am looking for. Nice even main light coming from a flash attached to a pole behind me and then a really nice rim light on the left side from another flash on a pole behind the skater. (Both at 1/2 power) I think I am going to use this exact spot to shoot from for a LOT of pics this weekend when I try it "live". It's not where I usually shoot from but it uses the available lighting setup (ie: the only two thin poles in the place) just right.

DOH! I guess that's what happens when I try and do two things at once. How did I mix that one up...

Hey guys, LAist.com is going to give me assignments in the Long Beach area to cover events and gigs etc. I am stoked and look at it as a real learning opportunity and a chance to make some contacts at the same time. I'm very excited!

It's not major $$ like FBJ but it's a start.

Briing on the Long Beach Riots!
