Default Playing Ice Saturday...been a long time, Equipment Questions

Im playing ice hockey satursday night for the first time in years...

My question....back in the day to keep the hockey socks up you would wear a belt that that plastic snaps that held that socks in place-is this still SOP?

And because I normally play roller and do no play a lof of ice....I was thinking about simply wearing my roller gear. Yeah, will probably look goofy but since I may not play again for another 10 years not going to pay for new pants....or even used pants.

That said....I have a pair of small ice pants that will work but probably look prettty goofy.

So the questions-since its a one time deal should I simply wear my roller gear or wear the slightly small ice pants? And if its answer B do I need to go buy a belt to hold the hockey socks up or is there another option?

Like I say...its been a long time since I have played so not sure the latest and greatest in ice equipment these days and since it may be another 10 years since I play again I dont want to schlep out any cash.

you should be fine wearing the roller pants. I have played recently with several guys who do that. As for the "snap" thing, I finally had to recently break down and buy the little shorts with velcro that everyone wears now to hold up their socks. I think you can maybe still buy the snap thingy, but I wanted to look "modern". The velcro holds the socks up surprisingly well, but I find getting the socks attached to the velcro in the back to be a big pain.
I also finally broke down and got a non-wooden stick.

Love your new signature quote, by the way!!

Folks i play with still use the garter belt, you dont need to buy the velcro shorts for one game.

For the pants, you could always bring both and let the guys give you **** in the room as an ice breaker.

I second nyssas comment on the sig

I have played pickup ice in my roller girdle and was fine, but I would not do it for a game. Huge difference in being hit with a roller puck vs an ice puck in the thigh.

Garter belt is fine, I switched over to the mesh shorts with velcro and built in cup though many years ago.

Maybe someone can lend you a pair of ice hockey pants, I wouldn't risk wearing a roller girdle with roller-daddy pants over them out on the ice.
