You all aren't going to like me saying this, but honestly they shouldn't sign or trade for anybody. Sign the Japanese pitcher, and let those kids move up to the big leagues and take the hit for next year, IF it comes.

The Yankees were dominant for quite some time not because they signed a bunch of pricey Free Agents, but because the were able to develop Jeter/Williams/Posada/Pettite and then made signings and trades surrounding that core with and sustaining talent there. That won them 3 in 4 years, 5 Overall, and made them the Class of MLB for over a decade.
You're correct. The Dodgers are doing exactly what they said they would do. Spend money first, while they build up their prospect pool and organization. Then cut back the payroll (doing now) and let the young core players compete. If they ever feel they are close to getting to the WS they would then be able to pull off a trade for the missing piece.

That might be 2 or 3 trades and a couple of signings, it could be 5 to 7 more players.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

I am 100% in agreement with this. Seems like there a lot of Dodger fans in the webisphere freaking out, though. People forget that they still have a solid team as it is right now.

    Interesting.

That's a lot of reason for motivation for Maeda to pitch well.

LGK is the only place for real die-hard fans. If you're not here, you're not a die-hard. That's how I see it!

Bullpen ruins a great performance by Stripling. SMH. Hatcher went out there with gasoline and gets burned.

Kazmir blows 5 run lead. How many years Dodgers sign this guy?
