Seared Brussels Sprouts in Ponzu Sauce
I tried the Brussels Sprouts at Tom's Urban and loved them. I wanted to do some at home and found the next best thing.
You just get a bunch of them (1/2 lb - organic tastes better), trim the cut ends and slice them in half the long way, then fry/sear them cut side down in a pre-heated cast iron skillet (use oil or butter) till they are brown (about 8 min. add some garlic also if you want but don't add salt because the Ponzu has plenty.). Throw them in a 400 degrees oven (either in the pan or a roasting pan with aluminum foil) for about 20 min (till soft but not mushy).
Halfway through the cooking in the oven, flip them around and sprinkle on some Ponzu sauce (from the international section of the grocery). These are addicting and the crunchy bits are to die for. I ate them before I thought of taking a pic so here is kind of what they look like.
