I'm happy with Roku! Cut the cord over a year ago and haven't missed anything (but KTLA which I can't receive for some reason - looking at you Signal Hill).

Chromecast is good, but it relies on other devices providing the feed. For instance, if you want to watch to watch Netflix, you'll have to bring it up on your phone, tablet or laptop, then send the feed to your Chromecast. In my opinion, the best feature is the ability to cast live streams from your laptop to your TV using Google Chrome.

I have a Chromecast dongle on two different TVs in my house (master and living). I bought 2 Android Galaxy Tab 4 7" tablets for each room charging next to the cable receivers. I cast all Kings games from my NHL app using this method since I left Cali. The only problems I've ever had is if the wifi signal lags at all the picture quality "drops" out of HD, but comes back as soon as the "buffering" stops(no interruption, just a drop in picture quality while live streaming). But it's only happened a handfull of times.

Other than that, I can cast whatever I want from the tablets, my phone, my laptop....pretty nice. Browser, Streaming Apps, local file viewing (pics and vids), even cast my phones screen. Used Skype on my tablet front facing camera, and cast caller video to large screen TV for a family call. No real complaints, but if you're looking for a solution with "built in apps", Chromecast relies on other devices to "cast" (as mentioned above). Hence the </= $30 price tag.

Are you using a digital antenna? If so, I tried several different ones and got different reception on each..

I use this instead of Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime. Love it.
