    Perhaps Nashville is in play?

Remaining Games: Ari, Cal, SJ, at NYI, at BOS, TOR, MIN, at STL, NYI, at DAL, at WIN.

Plus only one more ROW than the Kings, which the Kings would make up in a scenario that they caught the Preds in the standings anyway.

I think Nashville is the only target. The importance of the top three in the Pacific is going to make this tougher. Oilers and Flames will still have lots to play for despite being more comfortable.

Per Sports Club Stats after tonight's games....

    Playoff Odds:
    Edmonton 99.4%
    St. Louis 97.7%
    Calgary 95.8%
    Nashville 89.7%

    Kings 19.2%

Looks like the bulk of scenarios the Kings get in at this point go through Nashville, after tonight's loss to Carolina.

All of these teams have their playoff lives to play for, so I don't think motivation or comfort will have any impact at all.

Calgary and Edmonton are still targets purely based on the fact that the Kings have three shots at each of them. Once the Kings lose a game to one, that team is essentially no longer a target, barring a total collapse.

In the unlikely event of regulation sweeps on either of them. They will still need help even if one of those scenarios plays out. With likely three point games elsewhere as well I don't think Calgary or Edmonton are catchable realistically.

I agree that catching either of these teams is highly unlikely. But so is catching St. Louis at this point.

In the highly unlikely event that the Kings were to regulation sweep Calgary, they wouldn't need much help from elsewhere at all; they would simply need to pick up two other points on Calgary in the games these teams don't play each other in. Given that in this simulation the Flames have lost all three to the Kings in regulation, doesn't seem all that unlikely they cough up one more game elsewhere.

Not a whollllllle lot suggests this team has a 9-2-0 run in them, but we'll see how it plays out.

Yeah, unfortunately this team has issues winning 6 out of 10 games all year long. Not realistic at all to expect them to go 9-2 out of nowhere. But hey, it's sports right? Anything can happen. Just watch out for that false hope.

Either way Dave, I appreciate the updates to the Magic Numbers thread despite the fact that I already expected an early off season 2 weeks ago.
