I think they have seen that so where are you going to find a KINDA cheap winger with enough experience to do this to KOPI??? I think if this keeps up till years end we will loose the fourth rounder...not sure we finish higher than 10th anyway, but what IGGY has brought in experience and leadership alone will be worth the risk
Kopi's an easy target right now, no doubt, so I get where you're comin from there. But it might also be that he's got some better talent and fit next to him on that top line now. Hockey's strange like that.

And tbh I don't care what Kopi says, I think he killed his legs, energy, whatever you want to call it with the workload this past year. That plus the pressure of the C were a perfect storm. He might not be captain material, but I do think he is capable of bouncing back as a balanced top line center with or without a veteran on his wing.

For anyone attending games at Staples Center down the stretch, try isolating Iginla on his shifts. Ignore the puck and just watch him.

    He is awful.

I love the guy; tremendous character, future hall of famer, clearly still has the hands to finish in front of the net.

But man oh man is this guy slow. And weak. He never wins a puck battle. He's always a step behind.

Shouldn't be anywhere near the first line. Third or fourth liner 5-on-5 and a power play specialist would be ideal.

Iginla is a help to us offensively, but unfortunately I have noticed that he is also a defensive liabilty.

We got him for free, there is a reason for that. Unfortunally we can't expect miracles...

Terrible along the boards. No battle in him whatsoever. I noticed it from his first shift with us, and held out hope that he was just getting his bearings.

If anyone thought Iginla was going to strike magic at 39 years old is.... This move was just to give him a chance to possibility make the playoffs in his final season. Unfortunately the wrong team traded for him, however no other team needed an old, old veteran with diminished skills. It's not his fault as he had a great career.

Other than purely academic interest, who cares, really? He's hardly the Kings' biggest issue.

When the Kings play a smothering defensive style with little room for error and he can't play defense and is out there for more minutes than all but two of our forwards (as he was vs. CGY), he certainly is an issue.

Though who's decision it was to play him 16+ minutes and Kempe under 11 in a game with that much speed is certainly a bigger issue...

    Dear Mr. Iginla,

Maybe some, but not many hoped for you to work a few miracles at this stage of an inept Kings season and you, in the the twilight of your career.

I'm personally glad for the opportunity to at least SEE you in a Kings uni, though quite a few years too late. Your career has been worthy of your certain hall of fame induction...please enjoy with pride your hockey accomplishments as you wind down your (probable) last days in the NHL.

But the wrong team traded for you.

Yes, yes, yes, there were no other deals out there. You were DL's Hail Mary.

But this Kings team is but a shell of it's former self, with numerous key players who are fat with the pleasures of past successes and dollars, and many who seem bored and robotic or tired; I'm sorry, no playoffs and Cup pursuit are in this future for you here. This team is playing a lifeless, passionless game, playing a predictable system that is likely antiquated, and is mostly empty of former leaders with real leadership and fight and character, and the will to come back or shut it down. We lost warriors, we didn't adapt, we rested on laurels and spent cap money unwisely, and paid little regard or capacity for re-stocking the cupboards.

People will say, this is the net cost of our 2011-2014, and a hopeful attempt to replicate that, and to some degree that's true. Yet, it might have been nice to have you along for the successes of THOSE Kings teams at the deadline.

I hope that you are able to experience the joy in purely playing hockey in these last 10 games of your (likely) curtain call season; and that afterwards you will enjoy your family, your new life, and the memories of your wonderful career.
