Last time I checked, offense is a big part of hockey. On top of that, Frolov was Jagr-esque in protecting the puck and had speed.

Only thing they have in common are the garbage goals. Well nice comparison than...

lol...a couple of classic "complaints" from that thread (do we need a "WTS - Dwight King Edition" thread for every game?)

    - Moen was a fast skater. King is more of a statue.

    - He has the turning radius of Turner Stevenson

    - Looks uninterested ..maybe I would be too if I got traded from LA to Mtl..but still can be a serviceable third liner won't resign for sure but was he supposed to at his salary?

    I don't think so

    - We haven't seen what he can do yet.

It can take weeks to get adjusted to a new team, I'm not surprised that he's been real quiet given his shocked reaction to being traded. Looks listless and a bit lost out there, needs to check in mentally.

That being said would the real Dwight King please stand up!

    GO KINGS GO!!!

Go back to playing NHL17 on the Xbox and stop watching hockey.
The key word in your sentence is "was". He knew his role from their first and second cup because he played that high energy line with Nolan and gave the top lines a chance to catch their breath. Also he contributed in the playoffs but this year and last year he's been nonexistent.

That depends on what your expectation was of him, and what you all expected him to be and do was not what he was nor will he ever be. I expected him to be just what he was, a dependable 3rd line player that was good in the corners and along the wall, sound in his own zone, good at killing penalties, and maybe he would pot 10-15 goals in a season. In both years as you have described, he was on pace for just that, all for the huge price of just under $2M per season.

Feel free to go back to playing NHL17 at your leisure.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

Role players always get crucified on poor teams. When they bring the exact same to a successful team, they get lauded.

Dwight King is the exact same player as when the Kings won two Cups. A terrific forechecker when realizes that proper angles mean much more than big booms, tying up sticks and using weight and leverage means more than lining someone up.

Statistically he was the most valuable penalty killer in the entire league this year, if you care about numbers. Of all players who had spent at least 60 minutes on the PK, he was only on the ice for four PPG against, the best percentage in the league.

    Nolan? My aunt Fanny.

Should hit harder? My aunt Fanny's ass.

The dude was a valuable member of the best team this organization ever had. Terrific role player.

Play for the name on the front of the Jersey not the back...oh wait a minute.
