Not if he's producing. To me it was never about how much Kopitar extorted from LA, but if you're going to demand that kind of money and to be the highest paid King than PLAY LIKE IT.
I thought that this year's product was what we could expect two or three years down the looooong road that is Kopitar's contract. I figured we would get at least three productive seasons out of the 8. I don't think anybody thought he would pull up lame immediately. It's such a bad sign, and it points towards his character. I said years 3-6 are likely what we would have seen from Handzus time here. Handzus showed up earlier than expected.
I think there is a time and place for rewarding world class players top money, but it's not when your team is coming off a Cup run and you are in an obvious descent down the ladder. Well, that and that Kopitar isn't a $10 million player in any sense.
