I can kinda see that, cause he is only 24 and an RFA so probably won't have to pay him that much, and Lewis is 30 so he'd be 33 or 34 when his contract runs out. McNabb is only 26 and I have read that defenseman start to enter their prime around this time but only 1 year left on his deal and he could bolt elsewhere. It will be interesting. My take is no matter who they take LA has determined that the players that are not protected are 10-?? as far as importance to the team otherwise they would have been in the top 9 and protected.

Dowd is better than Shore. I don't wanna lose either.

    Lewis, Brown or McNabb

And I would not give them anything to take Brown, unless it's Lewis

Most "expert" lists for Vegas don't have Lewis going to Vegas. Typically it's been Dowd, Shore, McNabb.

They obviously need to pick Trevor Lewis to appeal to the fan base from the Utah region.

(He's not African American, Hispanic, or Armenian, but am I doing it right?)

Shore would be my choice if I were VGK. Lewis would have trade value for sure (and his loss would be very hard on the Kings), but glancing around the protection lists, very few young centers are available. McNabb isn't even in the top 25 of available defensemen.

I still like Shore, very much. He would look perfectly at home in the bottom six in the style of play for either Pittsburgh or Nashville, and could definitely use a change of scenery.

Dowd is too little, too late. His vision is good, NHL quality for sure, but he is light on his skates, doesn't read plays as they develop in transition or in coverages very well, and gets bullied easily. He is a stop gap at best.

Shore has the most long-term potential of that group, is cheap, and his type of player is relatively scarce in the draft, so yeah, it makes sense.

From what I got from one of the local papers...the Golden Knights won't be taking anyone with more than three years on their contracts...unless the team that wants that contract off their hands pays up BIG TIME...

Unfortunately that leaves Mr. LTIR 12 out of the running...and thankfully...we'll have Brown "stocking" the next Kings pipeline over the next 15-20 years...

Losing either of them wouldn't hurt even in the slightest.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

The cap hit they need to hit the floor is Brown's.
